Charlotte Morford and Joe Caputi: A Legacy Gift Preserves the Magic of Birds

Charlotte MorfordJoe and I included the Cornell Lab in our will because we wanted our life’s effort to go toward something we feel is crucial to the world. It’s comforting to know that this part of our existence will live on through the Lab and further its mission and excellence.

We like knowing that the birds we love watching near our home in Virginia will have advocates long after we’re gone. The song of the Wood Thrush is one of our most loved experiences. I hope our gift ensures that people after us will have that magic too.

Through the Cornell Lab, we have gained a greater curiosity about the natural world and a deeper appreciation for the birds around us. The way the Lab communicates, the learning opportunities it offers, and the importance of its mission are all impressive. The Lab makes it easy to love birds and want to know more about them!

The more people who appreciate birds the better. The Lab actively shares the joy of birdwatching and seeks to protect these miracles of nature. I feel good knowing that when the time comes, we will have made a difference to something that’s brought so much pleasure to us.
